Most nights I slept here in the outdoors on a straw mat covered in a simple cotton cloth and a mosquito net. The houses in Agbomey are a series of connected quarters for different family members. This particular space was mostly unoccupied and was much cooler to sleep outdoors than inside. Sometimes though, rain would start in the middle of the night and we’d have to scramble inside.
